Newborn sessions, what to expect? How to prepare!

1 hour newborn session

Newborn sessions most certainly can be done in an hour! The sets shown for newborn alone/with family and sibling and twins was all done in an hour. What to expect in that hour? How to prepare? Your baby should be well fed prior to coming to your appointment regardless of any schedule you have on the day of your appointment. Plan to arrive 15 minutes early. Leave the worrying to me! “Your baby does not have to sleep for the photo session to be successful! As long as they are full and content we can get lots of beautiful photos.

”Why only an hour? Well I have been doing this for 8 years and always only done the hour for many reasons. Newborns can only handle an hour and just around the hour they have had enough of the handling which is minimal and planned out going from exactly one pose to another. Secondly if you are planning on bringing a sibling, keep in mind that children of any age lose interest and cannot handle being in the studio for more than an hour. Even with the iPads and iPhones and toys to play with.

Twin Newborn sessions

Twins are also done in an hour, why? Because you have to think of them like 2 people that can only handle 1 hour, not that there are twice as many babies and more time is needed. Fortunately I have been very successful knock on wood with my method of twin newborn photography. We do all of the combinations sleeping together, on their own, head in the hands for both and a few props and some with parents or sibling. Yes this can all be accomplished in an hour! I'm a wiz at this.

Toddlers will co-operate!

When I began is it was a challenge we weren't sure if they would or wouldn't co-operate so I made it my mission to figure out how they like to work and sure enough I've figured it out. Very rarely I mean 1 in 200 newborn sessions is there ever a toddler that just won't have it. Kids love me not sure if it's because of the toys or if they just like to listen to me, I make it fairly easy and very fast!
